Passing Off the Square 2017

The 2017 FYOP cadets successfully complete “Passing Off the Square” Passing Off the Square is a confirmation of what the cadets have learned as they reach the half way mark in their First Year Orientation Period (FYOP). The officer cadets are matched in pairs for the ceremony. They begin by marching onto the parade square and must perform a precise drill routine; if an error is made, the first years must run back to their starting positions and try again. The Top 5 (Barmen, cadet leaders of the college) then ask each of the first years a question about the college, which they must answer correctly. These questions can come from our history such as the names of the Old Eighteen (the first class to have ever entered RMC), or something more current at RMC such as the names of our staff.
