I have an active research program which is focussed on the characterization of active satellites and space debris objects which is an important component of any space situational awareness (SSA) architecture. My students and I study the sunlight that is reflected from these types of objects in order to characterize and classify them based on their photometric, spectrometric and polarimetric signatures. We use passive astronomical observation techniques to learn more about the nature of satellites and space debris objects for which we have no information. My students and I use the Space Surveillance Research Laboratory (SSRL) in to support our research activities.
I am always interested in taking on self-motivated and driven graduate students interested in conducting research in the field of space situation awareness. As an Assistant Professor, with over 15 years of experience in the field of space R&D projects, I am fully qualified to supervise graduate students, both at the Master’s and PhD level.
