Mr. Yves Turgeon enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1983 and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 from Laval University located in Quebec City.

As a line officer, Mr. Yves Turgeon commanded the Vehicle Platoon and the 28 Administration Squadron in 2 Combat Engineering Regiment. He deployed overseas in Iraq/Iran as the Maintenance Platoon Commander in 1988. Strong of his field/deployment experience, he oversaw the Officer Training at the Canadian Forces School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. As a newly minted M Eng graduate, he leveraged his graduate level knowledge in the performance of his duties as the 202 Workshop Depot Operation Coordinator and the Base Maintenance Officer at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. As Base Maintenance officer, he applied his Workshop knowledge in developing an Activity Based Costing (ABC) framework for the Base Workshop and eventually experimented with other organizations on Base. As the Liaison Officer at Tank Automotive Command in Detroit, he honed his technical expertise in vehicle system design. His vehicle design expertise served him well as the Chief Instructor at the Canadian Forces School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, where, along with a team of technicians, revamped the conduct of the Army Technicians Training implementing the latest training techniques and innovative learning technologies.

His staff officer assignments include two years as the Chief of Staff for the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group and as the J5/COS for the Canadian Forces Joint Operational Support Group, which allowed him to gain experience at the operational level planning and executing the deployment of tens of thousands of troops around the world. He is a graduate of Royal Military College Master Program for Engineering Management (1992), the Canadian Forces Land Command and Staff College (1999) and the Canadian Forces Command and Staff Course (2006).

Mr. Turgeon has taught and developed curriculum and teaching material for the last six years as a teacher and Curriculum developer and acted as the Department Head for two years at the Department of Applied Military Science at RMC. As Department Head, he administered the long range planning for course development and future initiatives involving several Post Graduate options.
