  • Cross-Appointed Professor: Queen’s University, Civil Engineering
  • Senior Partner: Profound Engineering
  • Senior Partner: MODRET
  • Director, GeoEng Center, Queen’s University
  • Co-chair WDSA/CCWI 2018 conference

Since completing his graduate studies, Mike has been actively engaged in the consulting engineering industry. Mike’s experience includes providing senior technical direction, managing complex environmental projects, authoring numerous engineering reports and articles, and being an active managing partner of a successful engineering consulting firm. Mike is a technical leader in the field of water resources and has led water resources projects throughout the US and Canada. Presently, Mike is a professor and past Chair of Department of Civil Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada, a partner of Profound Engineering, and a partner in MODRET.

Mike specializes in the management and application of large environmental datasets related to climate, as well as the development of custom computer models in support of a variety of water quantity and quality investigations. His current research focus is the impact of climate change on extreme rainfall and mean annual flow for watersheds in Canada. Current research projects address climate change impacts related to flood hydrology, stream erosion, and migration of contaminates in groundwater. Other project work involves model development for regional and local groundwater management, saltwater intrusion, low-impact development measures for stormwater management, receiving water quality, and river hydrodynamics.

Mike is a Designated Consulting Engineer and licensed professional engineer in Ontario, co-owner of Profound Engineering and an engineering software company: MODRET .
