25th Anniversary of the granting of RMC's First Space Science Degrees

2016-07-18

RMCC ObservatoriesThis year is the 25th anniversary of the granting of Royal Military College of Canada's first Space Science degrees. Eight excellent Officer Cadets began the new program in the Department of Physics in the fall of 1989, and all graduated in the spring of 1991. Hundreds of Officer Cadets have since graduated from the undergraduate Space Science program, and many have completed RMC Space Science Masters and PhD programs, in addition to those graduates of Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean and Royal Roads Military College.

A ceremony and related events to celebrate this important anniversary was held during RMC Reunion Weekend 24 September 2016.  Four of the original eight graduates were present. To mark the important occasion, the graduates were presented with certificates by LCol Hansen, himself a Space Science graduate, and the book “Physics at RMC” by Dr Baird, former Dean of Science.
