About the Writing Centre

The Writing Centre is a bilingual resource for graduate or undergraduate students who are on site or conducting their learning via Distance Learning at the Royal Military College of Canada.  Our role is to assist students with any written assignment or presentation. We offer one-on-one tutorials tailored to individual writing needs, short modules focused on problems in grammar and organization, and workshops on areas of identified difficulty.

Individual tutorials are typically scheduled at any time during the college workday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kingston local time, Monday to Friday; in addition, evening/weekend and distance appointments can be arranged. The tutorials are designed to meet the particular needs of the individual student. They may focus on clarifying a thesis, organizing a report, developing a logical argument or using clear syntax. A series of tutorials may be arranged if they are needed to help the student deal with complex writing problems. Tutorials are in demand, so be sure to schedule an appointment as early as possible.

To sign up for an appointment, simply follow the steps in the sign-up guide, How do I Book a Writing Centre Appointment?

From time to time, modules focusing on particular problems are announced by email on studentmaster.

In addition to arranging tutorials, the Writing Centre also recommends books or exercises to help with particular problems. It also offers online resources for developing writing and learning skills.
