Dr. Fernando F. Fachin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the Royal Military College of Canada. Prior to joining RMC, he taught at McGill University. He obtained his PhD in Management from HEC Montreal, an MSc in Administration from UQAM, and a BA from Brazil. Dr. Fachin teaches in both English and French across undergraduate and graduate programs in Strategic Management and Organization Studies.
Dr. Fachin has published in leading journals, including Organization Studies, Management Communication Quarterly, and the International Journal of Project Management. His research has been supported by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and has received Best Paper awards at major conferences.
His research agenda is grounded in a relational ontology and the analysis of naturally-occurring data, primarily in military contexts. This work is organized around two core research programs:
- Adversity, Identity, and Embodiment
How do military members endure prolonged conditions of strain, ambiguity, and limited visible progress? - Strategy, Leadership, and Artificial Intelligence
How does the integration of AI reshape meaning- and decision-making within hierarchical command structures?
